We are not building a shopping mall, we are creating quality of life for the next 50 years. This requires perfect neighbourhood development with embedding in the existing settlement structure and further development of the overall inner-city architecture.

As part of a competition for an inner-city shopping centre, MESA developed the "Engel Carré" project in cooperation with STRABAG Stuttgart.
However, the overall project encompassed much more than just a shopping centre. On a total area of over 18,000 sqm, MESA planned hotel, commercial buildings, residential buildings, design house, park and shopping mall - perfectly integrated into the existing cityscape.
Anchor element Shopping-Mall
As a central inner-city anchor, MESA planned a classic shopping mall between the market square and the Gamundia area. In the immediate vicinity, within walking distance: townhouse, design house, market square, Remspark and the Gamundia area.
The shopping center provided for a classic operator and occupancy structure: food market, drugstore, textile and fashion retail businesses, services and condominiums on the upper floors.
Mixed-Use district - Interface between shopping and living
As part of the district development, the new design house, a new residential complex and another ensemble of trade and gastronomy form the interface between the new shopping mall "Engel Carré" and the residential and park complex "Gamundia Areal" - perfect mixed-use district development.
Consistently, the district development was further advanced with the planning of the Gamundia area. Hotel, commercial building, a combination of residential complex and commercial building as well as art academy and a new park accessible to all parts towards the river Rems, as a mirror and extension of the already existing Remspark.
