The project
"...topic: a typical district development."
Bernhard Reiser, Architect
Combining shopping and nature
Inner-city shopping centre at the northern end of the pedestrian zone, where the pedestrian zone meets the natural banks of the Murg.
On a fallow plot of land of a former commercial enterprise, a shopping center was to be realized here to revitalize the northern area of the pedestrian zone, with an urban reorganization of adjacent quarters.
"The window to the Murg"
The essential feature of the project is a spectacular canopy of the pedestrian zone coming from the south on the pedestrian zone as a signal visible from afar, at this point the two-sided development of the pedestrian zone ends and the view to the river opens up – "the window to the Murg".
2nd place
This shore-side area should then be designed with seating terraces, which are to be operated by a directly created restaurant.
The competition was held together with STRABAG Projektentwicklung, the branch in Freiburg. Second place, the project could not be realized in the planned form.
