A shopping city reinvented
Based on the most intensive analyses, MESA's recommendation for the revival of Aurich is: Development of three sites::
- Wallster Weg - Retail Park / Outlet
- Osterstrasse - Shopping mall / Inner-city passage incl. gastronomy and residential units
- Norderstrasse - Shopping mall incl. boutiques and residential units
Retail park / Outlet (Wallster Weg)
The 14,500m² area "VOST", only 500m away from the inner-city supply center of Aurich, offers an optimal location for a demand-oriented outlet / retail park. Due to its convenient location, the location becomes an attractive shopping location for the citizens of Aurich and its catchment area.
Planned are a hypermarket, various specialist shops, smaller catering facilities, parking facilities as well as the relocation / new construction of the bus station.
Shopping mall / Inner-city passage (Osterstrasse)
The sub-project "Osterstrasse" envisages retail, boutiques, gastronomy as well as services and residential units for this location.
Within this planning section, the backyards are a crucial issue with regard to the cityscape. This topic will be taken up and implemented through the construction of a covered inner city passage. The passage offers the possibility to connect large-scale structures and smaller shops, as well as to shop "dry feet".
Of course, monument-protected buildings and facades not only remain protected - but the existing architectural cityscape is integrated into the new architecture.
Overall, a real upgrade for the entire city center of Aurich.
Shopping Mall (Norderstrasse)
A new shopping centre is being built along Norderstrasse. Towards the pedestrian zone, numerous specialist shops will be built, which will also contribute to the revival. The shopping complex is combined with integrated city apartments and duplex apartments. An underground car park and a new car park provide necessary parking spaces for visitors and residents.
The trees that have been in existence for decades were taken into account in the planning - of course, these will be preserved within the new district planning.
